Am I the only one that doesn’t really like baitcasters?

Nothing against them and I use them with success occasionally, I just prefer a spinning reel. I feel like my control and feel is so much better with a spinning reel. Not to mention they’re way more versatile and can handle lighter weighted lures better than casting reels.

I am more accurate with a baitcaster. Only time I use spinning reels is in heavy winds fishing saltwater.

And that's completely fine. In reality there's applications in which both shine.

You are not alone my baw. I prefer spinning for probably 80% of the fishing I do.

baitcasters are best just for fresh water, spinning reels are for everything and they are the best when you target bigger fish

I’m probably closer to 95%. Maybe it’s psychological, but I was on Fontana Lake this morning and skunking with a baitcaster. Switched to a spinning reel, and got two striper back to back

Because of my conversion from bass to crappie, I started using spinning tackle a great deal. That made me incorporate spinning tackle more into my other fishing. I especially like it for salt stuff. I will always use baitcasters for most bass stuff though,

I use Spinning for Trolling, Popping Corks and Heavy Wind. Other than that I prefer Baitcasters.

Spinning reel 100% of the time for me. I've caught fish in brackish, saltwater and freshwater on spinning reels with no problems.

When my brothers and I were young, my dad taught us to fish almost exclusively with spinning reels, but we mostly fished with plastic worms.
I now fish mostly salt water and use bait caster and spinning reel about a 50/50 mix. My 17 year old does the same.

Same here, or if I'm throwing something light, like a 1/4oz jighead I'll usually use spinning. Other than that I'm using a baitcaster.

I'm the same way. Might be because I never had a quality baitcaster, but I've never been good with one. I've used spinning reels exclusively for probably close to 20 years.

All depends on the application. Sure spinning reels are great for most applications but I assume flipping and pitching into cover is not ideal for a spinning reel. I use both and always carry both with me for fresh and salt water.
My kids (both under 10) are more proficient with baitcasters than spinning reels. Just depends on how you learned I guess.

I kinda hate spinning reels. Only use them in saltwater or fishing finesse worms or something real light.

I'm just the opposite. I prefer baitcasters over spinning 99% of the time. I only fish freshwater so that may have something to do with it. I know when I use spinning gear, it never fails that at least once or twice during the day, I will have a huge ball of tangled line come flying out of my reel for no reason. That's usually when I get pissed and throw it down.

I tried once and I couldn't find a reason to stick with it.

When I was growing up my dad used bait casters exclusively. I couldn't wait to graduate from my Zebco 303 to one. When I was 10 I got an Ambassador 5500C and worked my butt off to learn how to use it.
I can hit a gnat's arse with a bait caster and have great control with them.
Recently I bought a light weight spinning combo to use when targeting pan fish. I have struggled to get the hang of it to be honest. I don't have the ability to modulate the speed of the lure and really pinpoint my target.
So far, my experience is that they are better at casting light tackle far distances, but not nearly as accurate. But that could just be me.
