Adding an aerator to livewell...thoughts?

I want to add an aerator to help keep bait alive for extended periods of time. I have a livewell but even when circulating new water through i tend to lose some bait. I have seen some people using power bubbles.
Power Bubbles
Is there a better option than this? I was planning on just tapping two holes in livewell and running the o2 hoses through and adding a switch to be able to turn on and off. I figure this would be simple and would work pretty well.
Yall have any better options?

Odd that you are losing bait if you are continuously circulating raw water from overboard. Now if you were just circulating the same water in the tank i could understand. I have seen bait not do well when going from inshore to offshore. The change in salinity plays hell on them.

Well bait keeps fine if i circulate new water through, but if i have to pull the boat out of the water or cut off the pump when i'm docked up the bait dies.

Air stone will definitely help in those situations. Tossing some ice in the water on a hot day will help too.

Here in GA, when the summer comes and the water heats up, recirc-ing lake water like your livewell does will certain kill the herring. Lots of us use the power bubbles, the more serious ones use the keep-a-live or an external bait tank with a comparable system.

Friend uses this and is serious.......only drawback is with saltwater you need to use a solution in conjunction.

We did exactly what you are planning last year after we kept losing a big portion of our live shrimp. Works really well! Live shrimp can run 30 cents each and bringing in hot surface water with a livewell circulator will kill them in a few hours.
Best method for keeping shrimp alive in the summer: do not fill with tank with your circulator but instead ask for extra water from the bait tanks. Keep off circulator and instead use an aerator. Throw in ice throughout the day or drop in a frozen water bottle.
We use the power bubbles unit you linked but upgraded the air stones to something like this glued to the bottom of tank:

^Wouldn't suggest this

Yep
We are big fans of the Keep alive system and use these in our built in livewell:
And This:
If you are trying to keep shrimp over night running the water through a handheld aquarium pump with a charcoal filter does wonders to make them last.

Biggest problem in inshore fishing is brackish water. Water in the tanks the bait comes from is usually fed from a pipe that's deep in the water.
Fresh water added into your boat bait tank comes from close to the surface. Salt water is more dense and "sinks". So you're actually adding more and more fresh water through the day and killing your bait.
Best suggestion is as someone else stated. Get extra water from bait supplier and do not add water from bait pump throughout the day.
Adding ice adds fresh water which isnt good. Adding water bottles is better however can crush your bait in tougher water.
Adding an in-tank aerator can only help. Using O2 in that aerator will help even more.

I use this in my boat. I have never had a fish die. It's easy to install. The upper new Ranger, Skeeter, and Nitros boats all have this as a standard feature in the livewell.
