Bought the littlest Chandler a .300 black out last season for deer hunting. Great gun, he shoots it extremely well.

Last season he shot a doe bout 60yds, doe kicked, fell, got back up and ran off. NO blood. Finally found her 30yrds in a thicket from where he shot her. FF to this morning, he is hunting with pappaw, same thing. Shoots a doe at 30yds and they cannot find blood or anything. I start looking at the box of shells pappaw bought last season and notice they are supersonics.

Would this have any effect of the bullet's performance when it hits?

I think subsonics have about the same power as a 45 ACP, for hunting I think you are better off using supersonics designed for taking game.

, he is basically hitting them with the muzzle energy of a .45 ACP+P. Shoot lighter and faster bullets like the Barnes 110 grain.

Oh, well then that is what he should be shooting them with. Try different ammo maybe? What is he shooting right now?

Barnes tac tx 110gr. They have a black tip. They'll do the trick.

What ammo is it specifically?

I suspect you are shooting FMJ ball ammo.

We have had success with the Barnes mentioned above- it makes a mark anywhere inside of 150 yards.

I'm leaning real heavy on this gun for my Lil tadpole. How old is your youngster?

I'm aware of that. Went unnoticed since I didn't purchase the ammo to begin with.

Ok I have a bushmaster 223. What all I would need to make it a 300 blackout? My Lil tadpole can knock the nuts off a nat at about 75 yards with the 223.

All you really need is a barrel. I would honestly just build an upper though because swapping the barrel each time would get annoying. So just buy a .300blk barrel, muzzle device, a stripped upper, a handguard, a BCG, a gas block, a gas tube, dust cover, charging handle, and forward assist assembly. You can go that route or buy a complete upper from a manufacturer of your choosing.

What Chat said above. Go ahead and build/buy the complete upper.

FYI: The one I bought isn't an AR style. It's a break over, single shot. This one right here

Yeah just buy the upper. Could even use the BCG and CH from your current upper.
