I'm looking to build a nice pig gun and I don't have any experience with this round.

Anyone have any advice on good builds?

Carbine or SBR this is your first decision? I built this 300 bk in carbine length (16") for a friend of mine...his supressor in on order.

I am going to get the supressor through a trust which seems to have started to take a lot longer after talking to a couple of people.

I would like to stay in the $800-$1200 range for the supressor and $2000-$3000 for the thermal.

I'd like to stay around $2000 for the gun.

ETA: SBR

$3000 won't do shite for thermal. That is entering good night vision territory at the upper end, but you aren't close to a good thermal unit. For supressor go with the SiCo Omega or Rugged Surge. For rifle, I would build one. If you dont want to build, BCM has the .300blk rifles now that should be great.

$5000 is doable. You can get one of the lower to mid resolution Armasight units for that. $7000-$7500 will get you into higher end Armasight and IR Defense stuff. But yeah, $5000 is closer to where you need to be.

Consider a SBR. With a regular barreled AR plus a 7" suppressor, it'll be like trying to aim a piece of drilling pipe. I got into a good SBR for about $1500 with stamp, add another $900 or so for a SiCo Omega. Can't comment on a therm sight.

Consider the silencerco hybrid instead of the omega. It's excellent and allows you to use it with pistols and rifles of most modern calibers.

Does it suppress as much sound as a suppressor made specifically for a 300?

Just to throw in a data point I played with a ~$3k low resolution Armasight. Inside 100 it was pretty clear. Once you start stretching to 100-200 it starts getting iffy. Pigs start turning into blobs and it gets hard to tell what you are looking at. I think under 150 yards I wouldn't hesitate to use it.

Here is a good video showing how it looks on hogs at 250 yards. That's a shot I would have a hard time taking since I couldn't identify the target.

Step up to $5k and look how much better the image is out to 300 yards.

You'll have to look at the stats for each suppressor. I would guess that it's not the absolute best but I can tell you from personal experience that it's hard to tell the difference from the omega when shooting subs.

Looked it up on Silencerco's website:
Omega Avg for .300 is 119db
Hybrid Avg is 123.7db.

skip that, trust me. rep brought one to the store and we took it out back to shoot it. it was shockingly loud with subs. one of the biggest letdowns ever, because it's beautiful and handles wonderfully.

get an SBR with a normal can
