I've been looking at this truck since it was revealed. After reading some of the stats, I thought the OB would have an opinion on it.

quote:

the Duramax engine delivers a segment-topping SAE-certified 445 hp (332 kW) and an SAE-certified 910 lb.-ft. of torque (1,234 Nm).

Link (it's a press release...can't find reviews on it yet)

I think I like everything about it except for the light bar being mounted on the bed right behind the cab. That looks weird to me especially with no lights actually being mounted there.

I don't think the prices are out yet. I am speculating but I suspect that it can be had for cheaper than the Denali versions.

I'd want the gasoline version.

My dad bought a '16 GMC 3500 HD z71 4x4 SLT and it was stickered at closer to $80k than 70K so id expect this to be at least that

That light bar in the bed is hideous. The lack of chrome on the grill is awesome though.

I'm a ford guy, but the AT package on the GMC is one of the better looking trucks on the road. That light bar is probably just for the stock picture as I doubt that's a stock accessory.

The cool thing is that the ecm will only let the engine make that much power under very specific conditions which are almost never met.

So even the people who try to use it will almost never be able to.

As far as GM products go, it's a good looking truck. I don't like the black wheel fad and the "roll bar" is hideous.
The owner of my company just bought a 3/4 ton gas burning Denali and it is damn sharp. I hope he keeps it for a while. I want to see how it holds up, even though the only thing he tows is a 32' boat between the condo and boat ramp.

even cooler is that it won't be a Bosch ECM and all that power can be unleashed much easier on demand...
