Guys I need some help here. Just moved to the Lake Charles area and my truck is giving me AC problems in the middle of damn August. I don't know where to take it out here to get it looked at that is a reliable mechanic that won't rip me off. I was told Clyde's in sulphur is one of the best, but he can't fit me in for a whole MONTH?!?!
Can y'all give me some guidance on somewhere to take it? TIA

He really is and that's why he can't fit you in for a month. I had a problem with the chevy trailblazer I used to have and brought it to him thinking it would be about $300 to fix. He charged me $17 because he only needed to replace a belt. He could have charged me 5x as much and I would have been none the wiser. What is wrong with your AC? I have a 2012 F-150 and I don't think it's blowing as hard as it should on MAX.
As far as another place, I don't know what to tell you besides Tarver.

It seems like it works fine in the morning, but when I go to my truck in the afternoon or for lunch it just isn't getting cold. It blows a little cold, but not near like it should.

I was just complaining about my 13 F150 AC compared to my buddy's GMC. It's unreal how much colder his gets than mine, and this is a known fact that has plagued Ford for years it seems. Late afternoon it takes a while for my cab to get comfortable.

My 13's a/c is ice cold...
A few months ago I was at the dealership and they updated the ecu firmware on mine. Part of that update was an increase in the condenser fan rpm's and when it's hot outside that sumbitche sounds like it could be making enough lift that I could take off at any moment...
May want to bring it to a dealer and see if that may help?

y'all just need some better perspective. compared to the Subaru I had before, my 13 f150 is a damn walk in freezer.

There's a low pressure R134 PSI level you're supposed to be in. If it's too high or elevates in hot weather, your truck will not cool as a safety measure. Too low and your compressor will kick on / off very rapidly.
Within the level, you want to stay on the low side of it I high humidity areas. like if it's 17-27 lbs, 20 would probably be the coolest.
You could go to Lowes and buy a can of condenser / evaporator coil cleaner and spray it on there and rinse it clean. If it's bad dusty or clogged it won't transfer heat and could cut your operating system up to %40.

Lake Charles Auto Truck and Air. They're on Broad street, you can google them. My compressor went out in my 07 ford last year and they had it back to me the next day after I brought it, and they changed out my whole AC system.

You are either a little low on freon or the condenser coil is dirty.
If it's very hot and your vehicle has been sitting in the sun the fasted way to cool it off is: 1) Low your windows 2) put you fan on medium and temperature on coldest 3) After driving a few minutes raise windows and move fan speed to highest. This gets the hottest air out quicker and cools down the evap core temps.

How much the dealer charge you? Every time I've been to a dealer I feel like I'm getting fricked...however that might be the only way I can get a firmware update

On Max your AC recirculates cabin air.... As the air in the cabin gets colder so will the vent temp. If it is 95 outside the temp inside should come down pretty fast. The AC should cut off +/- 40 degrees. If it isn't coming down with a proper charge "1.5 lbs" then you have a problem. That charge of 1.5 lbs doesn't include the 6.1oz of oil. If they haven't got enough oil then 1.5 lbs charge won't be enough. They both take up the same space. You need to take it to a shop that specializes in Auto AC. There are other things in the system that could be messed up. A restriction or the expansion valve could be defective. If the expansion valve is bad then it can't meter the refrigerant properly.

Fortunately, I have a buddy that is the shop foreman at the dealer closest to me. I went there to have my daytime running lights activated full time and he ran a check to see if I had the latest update and I didn't so he flashed it.
I'm not sure how much it would be for paying customers. Only cost me a 6 pack of bud light for my friend.
