What do you call catastrophic failure? I am betting that they call up Ford HQ for much less then you consider catastrophic failure.

EPA junk is what kills mileage and ruins motors so it is best to remove ASAP

This is great advice.

Why are people so in love with the outdoors such poor stewards of it?

Not enough knowledge about the subject to ask that question. It is the same situation as battery powered cars, and pretty much 95% of all green energy ventures. Spend more, get less, and eventually turns out to be worse for the environment in the long run.

see my last post...they aren't stupid...parameters during an "event" tells all...they can also tell how many times the computer has been flashed and can tell if any of those flashes were not a GM or Ford(etc)factory calibration...

Most ECU's take snapshots. I know when I selftune my car, everytime I make a reflash there is a snapshot taken. It was how I diagnosed what was wrong with the car when I bought it...the previous owner did not know what he was doing when he uploaded a new tune and I was able to go in and look at every change he made...not just to speed limiters and rev limiters but each individual air/fuel cell and ignition cell. It gets pretty in-depth. If I can do that at home on my laptop, I'm pretty sure the Ford engineers have made it to where their computers can see just as much

FWIW, programmers are just about pointless on a gas vehicle unless you have it set at the MPG tune which actually does help. If this is a diesel, I would definitely recommend it.

Turning corn in fuel... hows that working out for the long term life of motors and use of natural resources?

Efficiency is the name of the game. I am trying to maximize my engines efficiency by removing the items that bog it down. Longer life, less fuel used, less money spent in the shop. Less parts that must be made running up the price of steel etc.

It could be argued that by preserving the life of my vehicle I am actually a better steward of the environment.
These regulations are for pure show or some backhanded govt funding. Someone is getting rich. It has nothing to do with the "betterment of the environment"

I have a 2008 duramax with 143,000 miles on it. I have had programmer and straight pipe with DPF delete on it since 40,000 miles with no problems whatsoever. I picked up an avg of 3-4 more mpg.

It will be like a new truck when you take all the Al Gore shite off.
