Yeah I bought one of these PoS's. I'll let you guys know if it is any count.

This one.

Friend's lake house is just across our little bay maybe 100ft. Got tired of pull cranking the little 8hp outboard on my 14ft Jon boat just to shuttle across. I normally just paddle across but with winter weather I'd rather be in the jon boat.

It's obviously an Alibaba source trolling motor rebadged for various sellers.

Alibaba Source

Gets decent reviews under some different livery.

Outsunny #1 name in Trolling motors!

Outsunny is the best!!!

I'll let you know if it electrocutes me or melts the aluminum jon boat and puts it at the bottom of the lake.

If I remember correctly, you can get a MK 36lb for like $99 at Academy, and you know you won't have any issues with it. If you do, they are right down the street...

Ha, it should get you to where you need to go.

Why stop at 55? The 86 is only $2 more...

I actually thought about it, but decided I didn't want a 24v setup.

Anyways $100 it right about my limit I don't mind throwing away on a gamble. I figure I'll either find a decent cheap 55# thrust trolling motor or I'll have a good story about getting stuck in the middle of the lake with battling flames and cancer from partially melted cheap Chinese plastic. Either way the OB wins.

You could splice one in fairly easily.

Heck, I'd be willing to try a foot controlled if they offered one.

Academy sells the big foot trolling motor switch which is like $15. Not full foot control but way better than nothing, at least the folks I know that use one claim that. I've never used one personally. I have shitty balance and I'm convinced I would put myself in the water trying to use a foot control standing on the deck of a boat.

Found it on their web page.

I can barely keep a single battery charged. With 24v I would be in a constant state of "F@$k I need to charge that other battery". Or I would have to invest in a dual bank charger. Or 24v charger. 12v? I gots that shite.

Trolling motor arrived today. Chinese obviously know the quality of their product based upon the first sentence of the instruction manual. Ominous foreshadowing of a product normally received DOA.

"Thank you for having our product, wish you could enjoy it."

Further down the 10 page manual is this line:

"The user must wear a life saving coat."

I don't know what a life saving coat is or where I can get one. Any ideas?

We also have this line:

"Particular attentions should be paid when using this item near anybody with long hair. Users with long hair should tie it up or wear swimming caps when using the boat"

Hippies and wives and rednecks with awesome mullets have something else to invest in for them to use this trolling motor. Life saving coats and swim caps.

"Never put the control box in water, if it falls into water, you must send it to professional people to clean it before use."

Anyone know what a "professional people" is? I thought it might have been the proper name of a company but because of the lack of capitalization I'm beginning to think not.

Then later on in the manual it contradicts itself.

"Never put the upper part with handle in the water, if it got wet, the user must disconnect the battery and try to clean and dry it"

The "upper part with handle" is labeled "control box with telescope handle" in the diagram. So I'm not sure if I'm supposed to send it to professional people to clean and dry it or disconnect the battery and try to clean and dry it myself.

Using Instructions

1. Connect the clip with battery:
Use the battery lead cable to connect with battery, please connect the wire with the read head with anode and black head with cathode, please ensure during the connection do not connect the anode and the cathode directly together, do nor connect the wrong electrode

First off, there is no clip. So I don't know WTF that part of the instructions mean. Second, the heads on both wires are yellow. I tried to get a picture of it but my fricking cat wouldn't leave me alone to get a picture. Maybe when the newness of the big box in the dining room wears off she will go somewhere else and I can get a picture of it. But you can obviously see the heads of both wires are yellow.

2. Roll the handle to start working, when you hear the "Click", that means you have reached a speed phrase, there are 5 speed forward and 3 speed reverse:

I have no idea what a "speed phrase" is. Is that a boating term I am not aware of? You can kind of feel an indentation when you turn the handle but it doesn't "Click" per sey. At least not something audible to human hearing.

4. Connect with Battery:

Yes, section 4 is a whole section on connecting the trolling motor to the battery. So I have no idea WTF I was supposed to be doing in step 1.

Care and Maintenance

The control box can only be opened by a professional engineer.

Hellz yeah. Good thing I'm a professional engineer! So those of you who aren't professional engineers might want to think twice about buying this product.

Trouble Shooting

I thought this section would have advice for people using this for duck hunting but I was wrong.

Motor fails to run or lacks power
-Check battery ware level. Add water if needed

Another new term for me. I thought I knew a lot about batteries. But I don't know what a Ware level is.

Not sure yet. Boats are at the lake house. Not sure when I will be able to run out there and give her a try.
