I normally fish with 20-40lb power pro

However while at Academy I spotted a clearance tag for 5 bucks for 500 yards of 100lb power pro. Grabbed the whole lot up.

Anyone know any drawbacks fishing this diameter for reds?

Are trying to catch bull reds at offshore rigs?
Because 100lb power pro is a bit much for redfish.

I normally fish for slot reds. Just couldn't pass up this deal so besides selling it i wanted to see if I could have some use for it.

Thays pretty heavy for nearshore. You'd be better off selling it.

Not if you make it backing for a big Ole Avet, run 80lb top shot and target tuna.

Use it as anchor rope

It's definitely overkill but you COULD use it on a big spinning reel for soaking crabs in the channel for big reds. I would hold onto it for if you ever buy some offshore gear.

Its good for an AJ setup. Just don't catch the rig.

You will reach the limits of the drag and burn up the reel before coming close to breaking the line if you use it with inshore gear.

It's the same diameter as 20 lb mono. May not cast very well on a bait caster. Make sure you use a lighter test mono shock leader. If you hook into a shark of any size he can spool you and take your rod or bend your spool with 100 lb test.

That's what we use in MS to catch gators.

I use it on my snapper rods. That's about it.
