My wife and her family are Filipino. They almost disowned her uncle when he started dating a Japanese woman. They've now been married over 50 years and she's part of the family, but it did not go over well with the matriarch who moved the whole family to Salinas post-WWII when it happened.

The IOC refers to Taiwan as "Chinese Taipei". The point being, Eileen Gu ain't skiing for Free China, aka Taiwan. She is an American who chose to represent Communist China.
