That is going to be one of the "NEW" deepwater rigs. Under the Obama administration. deepwater will start at 10-feet.

It's just a barge rig. They also drill for oil & natural gas, just in shallow water. I've never been on one and after seeing that dinky little thing, I'm really glad. It doesn't look like it would be nice place to hang your hat for 2 weeks.

No doubt! I worked out there and felt like I was at a half way house when hanging in the quarters!! They are floating dumpsters.

inland rigs, there are hundreds of them stack right now, and they have been for about 2 years now.

Our president hates all drilling

I am sure the shale stuff has really taken a toll on the barge rig work.

Some what but most of your shallow water stuff has been tapped all ready, there is some gas left. The new thing for shallow water is drilling ultra deep. Some of the wells they are drilling now go 25,000-30,000 TD.

I worked on those POS back in the day, (late 70s, early 80s). AWI had the shittiest rigs I have ever been on. Then there was Mallard and Mardrill...good times.

LMAO. I worked for AWI one summer in the late 70's. Wow what a company that was to work for. I started out as a green floor hand and and ended the summer as a derrick man. Those were some tough guys to work for.
I did work a few nice Texaco rigs.

I've been working here on Grand Isle for over 2 months now, and I'm pretty sure that rig has been parked their every time I've gone up to Golden Meadow.
