Wish they had the matching stats to show the average size of that 1 bedroom in San Fran/NY, etc to compare with NOLA, Miami and the others.

This is why I think rate of consumption is a better indicator of wealth. Have a liberal look that up and they won't like that red states win that battle.

If you would have told me New Orleans apartments are more expensive than Denver, I would have laughed. Crazy.

Yep. That's why quality of life rankings are meaningless. The assets they use to calculate the rankings are useless if you go broke just to live there.

Yep. Where are all these jobs people are moving in for? Service industry isn't much of a career

If you look up the top cities to live or top cities for quality of life, most of these cities are not listed

My bad. I assumed NYC and SF were considered great places to live. Which isn't the case if you have to pay a fortune to live on a broom closet and have no money left to enjoy what the city supposedly has to offer.

Im with you. Generally those rankings do not correlate with what has been listed. The quality of life rankings take a lot more into account. Sorry it's a slideshow...hate em

Too bad nobody wants to live in this shite hole. LOL

It is crazy. I've been scratching my head for three years now with the pricing and all of the new condos and new developments going up

Still a decent amount of high paying jobs in the oil and gas industry here between E&Ps, service companies, and engineering companies. There's also a lot of medical folks as well as lawyers.

Here's a hint, if that was the case then Nola wouldn't be anywhere near one of the highest rental markets. It's like that due to the demand, cost of real estate, and absurd taxes and insurance.

A nice renovation in a decent neighborhood starts around 190 a sq ft and can go up to 205 or so depending on appliances, off street etc.

What people dont get is that there are people with money that WANT to live in the city. And they are paying top dollar to do it.
