No matter what people say Zulu is one of the most well known NO Mardi Gras parades, so its a good thing they are getting their act together and buying their own floats. Actually looking forward to watching for the first time in years.

The additions represent a milestone for the club, which in its 100 years of incorporation haven't owned any of the floats riders climb into on Mardi Gras Day to make the trek across town. Now, however, Zulu is the proud owner of 10 gleaming new super-floats.

Club officials hope to add 10 more floats every year until they own every part of their parade.

Thomas said he's also worked hard to ensure Zulu rolls on time on Mardi Gras day, adding a second inspection system and using run flat tires on all but six of the parade's 60 floats in 2016. Even those last six are foam-filled, he said. "We don't want to hold Rex up. Zulu has been notorious for that," Thomas said. "A breakdown is not inevitable anymore. It used to be inevitable. It used to be a big problem."

Once saw a TPOS Zulu rider throw an un-opened coke can at a guy. Luckily he missed

Are floats a good investment?

I like Zulu. Also liked that they broke down a lot. Kinda served to lengthen out MG for me. Once the trucks roll, I'm off the Avenue and back at the house. If Zulu broke down. ti let me stay out a while longer.... LOL

I would think most people on this board would support a black organization taking the initiative to become better organized and self-supporting without government assistance?????

Stacey Dash says Zulu is racist. I'm with her on this one.

You know very little about Carnival organizations, and even less about posting clever racist innuendo.

Zulu is the only parade I catch on Mardi Gras day. My record in a day was 8 coconuts. Not bad for a white boy. I still have Zulu shrunken head beads on my rearview from a few years ago.
