Does anyone know any good youth flag football leagues in Baton Rouge for 1st graders? I know the Y has one, but the Y isn't competitive at all. I saw something about Istrouma Baptist Sports complex has a league. Has anyone had their kids in this league? Any good? Need some suggestions if possible.

If your kid isn't playing travel flag football by first grade, he'll never make an NFL roster.

Just look up SLYFA and put him on a tackle team. At that age it's basically flag but they get knocked down every once in a while

Why don't you duct tape some pads to his little arse and have him play some real little league football, Cliff.

Sorry, doc. I'm 32 and haven't lived in BR in almost 15 years. I don't even know if little league flag football is a thing. They're so small that taking a hit, even without pads, generally doesn't cause all that much damage. We played backyard tackle until we were 12 or so. We had pads in little league. Honestly never heard of little-league flag football.

Look up B.R.A.I.N. I used to coach for them. Youth flag league in a Denham Springs. Word of warning....very disorganized outfit....that is why I don't coach for them any longer

Thanks, but no thanks. Do not want anything unorganized. It looks like it will be the YMCA(which sucks) or Istrouma Baptist sports complex. BREC has tackle but not flag for that age
