Youth Baseball - Pitching Lessons in BR

I have a 12yr old just finishing up basketball, so we are about to start baseball. This year he will do some pitching and I would like to get him a handful of lessons to get a basic foundation to work off of.
Does anyone have any recommendations in Baton Rouge? What should I expect to pay?

I send my 5 year old to a guy by the name of Dennis Broussard. He has a regulation pitching mound in his backyard and has done my son wonders. Let me see if I can dig up his email address. My son goes twice a week after he gets home from school and Dennis charges me $75 per session.

Is this for real?

If he needs lessons at 12 he sucks. He should have MLB scouts at his wooden bat league games by that age. Sorry bro, you missed the boat.

There are scientific studies out there that show that learning the fundamentals at a young age is key to preventing arm problems later in life. The kids can afford to throw a lot of pitches with improper fundamentals at that age because their ligaments are so forgiving, therefore, that is the best time to work on correcting any problems they may have.

Chad Ogea does private pitching lessons. He isn't cheap though. Then again he was a pretty damn succcessful MLB pitcher so he's worth it.

Or just don't allow anything but a fastball until varsity high school ball

I highly doubt you are as knowledgable as Dennis.

Thats what would happen in a perfect world, but unfortunately this is not our coaches area. I figured at this age, it may be a good idea to get some fundamentals down. It just seems like it would make sense, primarily for injury prevention. I am just looking for someone I can send him to for 3-4 lessons, to get some basics.

I know you're probably joking, but nobody could hit my boy's slider last year, so I doubt that.

Lol...I would bet I'm much more qualified than Dennis, but then again I wouldn't give a FIVE YEAR OLD pitching lessons

Traction has the same guys that did lessons for Marucci.
