What do you normally do when you come upon a yellow light? Slow down or speed up?
Nothing ticks me off more than when the car in front of you slams the breaks on when the light turns yellow causing you to miss the light.

Where I live, everyone runs yellows to the point that is was red for like 3 seconds. EVERYONE does it, and cops don't seem to care.

I have a rule. If I'm going to have to slam on my breaks to be able to stop at a light, I'll keep going. If not, I stop. Works pretty well with not running reds.

Starman put it perfectly in 1984

"I watched you very carefully. Red light, stop. Green light, go. Yellow light, go very fast."

I learned something in Los Angeles(and Orange County) years ago. In heavy-traffic areas, AFTER the left turn arrow turns red(or disappears from yellow. ), at least two more cars will run it. Cops DO NOT TICKET this. It's like it's okay b/c the timing before the other direction gets the green is such that it's not so dangerous.
I was riding with a local and didn't believe her at first. By day 4 I was like Well whattya know. She was dead-on. Everyone does it there.

I stop in the middle of the intersection and immediately create a thread on TD

Pretty sure it's like this everywhere. I did it yesterday and the cop I didn't see was literally looking right at me and never moved. That's why I don't stop.

Without a doubt it's common in BR now too. But This was 2003 when I learned that in LA area.
I guarantee it's not a big deal to cops patrolling the likes of Perkins/Essen/Govt/Plank in peak hours.

Depends how fast I'm going in New Orleans because as soon as one light turns read, the other turns green. No waiting period

Everywhere else, speed up

breaks - an interruption. "We took a break from work."
brake - something that slows or stops. "That a-hole slammed on the brakes."
