Anyone get any deals when they actually start up? And what does the prices you guys are paying include? I'm going to be buying a new (used) car soon, and want to get the Nav Traffic at a minimum LINK, but if I can pay less than the $43.89 yearly cost and get the traffic AND some stations, that would be worth it.

Putting them in most new cars and giving a 6 month free trial was brilliant. I never thought I would be interested in having sirius until I got a new car. I now gladly fork over 18 bucks a month for it.

So what is a regular rate per month? I have it but my wife pays it for three vehicles and I have no clue what it cost.

Damn that sucks. The regular rate is somewhere in the ballpark of $160-165 after taxes, royalties, etc.

Seems worth it to me. 18 bucks is nothing.

Who in their right mind would choose to pay $18 a month for something that you get for about $8-9 a month? I guess you think that makes you sound like a baller or something.

It doesn't though.

She said it was 18 bucks a month unless I wanted to pay for a year up front, which I didnt. I said thank you for your service which I really enjoy.

And thinking spending 18 dollars a month makes me sound like a baller? In what world does spending 18 $ a month make anyone a baller?

Then back to my original comment, you aren't very smart.

You don't have to pay for a full year up front to get reduced prices.

Yes. As most in this thread have said, you tell them you are going to cancel and they are going to offer you a significantly lower rate. That is a fact. The only people that pay full price for XM radio are the ones that want to pay full price. It takes like 30 seconds to say you are cancelling and then get a price that is probably around half of what you are currently paying.

I just came off a free 6 month trial. I have never had sirius before. I had absolutely no leverage.

You had leverage. You just let it lapse, and then a week later at most you get one of the special offers. When that expires, threaten to cancel and you'll get another one. If not, cancel and within a week you'll get another offer.

So what? You don't need any leverage. You tell them you are going to cancel the subscription and you will get a reduced rate. I do it with them every single August because I'm not going to pay the $170 a year or whatever it is. You might not get the reduced rate with the first person you speak with. You might have to say I am cancelling and they will send you to someone like you are going to cancel and that second person will most assuredly offer you a lower rate.

It costs them absolutely nothing to send the satellite signal to you. They would rather get some money from you than no money from you.

Well I feel that 18$ a month is a very fair price for there service and not worth my time or the hassle to get it reduced.

So my original comment withstood the duration of that argument.

You aren't very smart.

You are paying $216 a year for the same exact thing that I pay $85 for. And I pay more than some.

do you guys have credit/debit cards on file with sirius/xm? Or do you simply prepay the 5-6 month charge in advance?

I see that their deals say "get 5 months for $25 then revert to normal monthly charges to you account".

Do you guys just make it a point to contact them before the trial period ends and before they charge your card with the regular monthly charge?
