there is social justice and then there is this whole mess.

Me neither. I think there are a lot of trolls and characters, maybe a few outlier crazies, and probably some more left leaning people who get thrown in with them because people tend to think that anyone who disagrees with them is an extremist. In common usage, the phrase "Social Justice" is synonymous Communism and Racism (irrational hate for white people).
