Tidemustroll made a great thread.

Sometimes I wonder, being black,if things would have drastically changed if the South won. Particularly slavery.

Alot of people claim the war focused on state rights, however the founders of the Confederacy wanted slavery. Would it have ever ended if the South won.

I assume the CSA would become anotherSouth Africa. Many historians debate that the CSA could have ended it in 1890 or possibly become a British commonwealth depending on economics, also ending it.

When it became economically unviable due to industrialization, yes. There were plenty of other chattel slave owning societies that eliminated it without the need for internal strife and violence.

They wanted slavery because of the economics of cheap labor. Technological advances would have eliminated the need for it eventually.

Democratic leaders were pro-slavery in 1865, pro-slavery in the 1960s, and are pro-slavery today. The Civil War did little to change that.

Every other nation on earth ended slavery without having a war that killed over half a million people. This includes nations like Brazil, where slavery was as entrenched as it was in the South. Brazil ended slavery only two decades after the Civil War.

True, but i guess it's a question of how long. Some of European countries had already showed industrial superiority by the time of the civil war. We all known the assembly line would come into play until the 1910s.

I believe what your saying. However, I can see the issue in how turning slaves into citizens with rights would still be a very bloody.

If the South progressed into 1920 with it, then by modern civil progress we would have the civil rights movement into the 1990s

Yes. Technology would have ended the need for mass human labor.
