Do y'all do a safety topic to begin the meeting?

that's not being a Karen, that's common courtesy and lack of professionalism on the part of the interviewee.

It is incredibly obvious to me, an outside observer, that this individual is very interested in the position.

I do the majority of mine driving, Karen. Just mute yourself so they aren't listening to road noise.

* eta not as an interviewee though

If they are driving while interviewing for a job, I wouldn’t hire them. It’s obviously not that important to them.

I don't think you are a Karen if it is something you are already a part of, ie. you are the interviewer. I believe being a Karen is to butt in to something you are not involved in.

Tell them to pull over and call back in.

There is a tiny tiny chance they could have a wreck and if anybody heard they were in a interview you might get screwed. Interviews are stressful, I could see them being distracted.

and add: I would really question hiring them, depends on how desperate you are.

Depends on the role and the person honestly.

Some lazy bones who's been unemployed for a year looking for an entry level job, maybe.

Some professional who's busy that i'm trying to recruit and squeezed in a little time to talk, no.

Now, bringing their wife to a lunch interview, thats a deal breaker.

Just throw their resume out. They’re giving a half arse effort to your interview

no way you call this out like a Karen right off the dump, you have to see that situation through depending what the wife looks like

Absolutely...if for no other reason than the person being interviewed ain't interested in being interviewed. If they were they would pull over in a safe place prior to the interview where they could pay proper attention. Safety concerns aside if it is for a job it would be a deal breaker for me...if you're talking about an interview for a story or something involving a celebrity or someone who is difficult to get an interview with thats a whole different story...in that case its their lives, if they are that dumb I would ask them if they could pull over and if they couldn't I'd probably do it...but if it is a job interview no way.

My team has done that before. Told the guy that they’d wait for him to pull over. He said he was too busy to pull over. They ended the interview and wished him well on his job search.

On the other hand, we’ve also interviews folks after hours for flexibility to accommodate folks’ schedules. So there’s no reason for an interviewee to be driving while interviewing.

Would Gordon come after your company’s deep pockets if your interviewee kills someone while zooming with you?

Ask him why he is driving.
End interview regardless because your job isn't very important to him
