Boomers expect you to be in the office at your desk 60 hours a week.

Gen Z expects to you to be working any random hour of the day from any random location in the world?

Those born between 77 and 86 are the sweet spot that carry the majority of the workload and expertise for this country.

I'll tell you.

A Gen X'er stuck between a pile of boomer pensioners and know-it-all headcase millennials and z's. One dumps their workload on you, the other wants to change their job so there isn't a workload at all.

Being gen X sucks because when we were 22 we had to "learn" from the boomers. Now all the smartass know-it-all mils and z's are masters of everything, just ask them.

I’m a Gen x IT worker and I sort of expect this, especially from senior level people..

^^ THIS! ^^

I had to “learn” from boomer bosses who were using post-WWII management styles they “learned” when coming up. It was like fraternity hazing…only for me to be sent to courses to unlearn this behavior so that I could lead Gen Z employees.

I really don’t have a problem with any particular generation. For me it’s the ones who politic and are willing to throw anyone under the bus to get ahead.

Boomers.

These geezers REFUSE to retire and make way for GenX, meanwhile Gen Z thinks they should be the boss on day 1 at age 25.

X stuck in the middle having to actually produce.

But Boomers working into their 70s and adding very little value is a real problem. Case in point is our POTUS. There’s millions of him scattered across workplaces everywhere in this country.

The Boomers I work with were some of the biggest supporters of remote work once COVID hit (and my current company is 90% remote).

And don’t ask them to work hours outside of 8a-3p. M-F

I manage a pretty diverse crew as far as age. I have a handful of 20 somethings and a few guys about 45-55 years old. The older guys generally have a better work ethic but the difference, as least my experience, is the smart phones. The younger guys generally leave their phones alone during the day. The older guys cannot get off Facebook for 5 minutes. It’s the exact opposite of what I would’ve thought.
