A video allegedly showing a woman at San Francisco State University verbally badgering a student for “cultural appropriation” has gone viral after being posted on YouTube Monday evening.

The woman can be heard telling the student, a white male, he can’t wear dreadlocks because “it’s [her] culture” and threatens to cut them off with scissors.

quote:

After the student attempts to extricate himself from the woman’s grasp — “you have no right to tell me what I can wear on my head… stop touching me” — she pulls him back and says, “if you put your hands on me, you’re gonna learn.”

At the end of the video, she asks the cameraman “why are you filming this?” and shoves the lens after he responds, “for everyone’s safety.”

SFSU released a statement:
quote:

We are aware of the video made of an incident which occurred on campus yesterday afternoon. University police were called to the scene of the incident when it occurred. The two individuals involved in the incident are not San Francisco State University employees. Further, no criminal charges have been pressed at this time to the University’s knowledge.

San Francisco State University promotes the rights of the campus community to engage in free speech, but does not condone behavior that impedes the safety or well-being of others. We are taking the matter seriously and will promptly and thoroughly investigate this incident through applicable University channels, including our campus student conduct procedures.

Wait a minute, a black person doesn't like it when a white person video tapes them?

She makes weird eye contact with the camera and the white guy is really animated/pronunciating. Could it be some social experiment to see the online reaction?

Not saying it is, but it just seems odd.

Let's put the shoe on the other foot here. Does the university share the same sentiment in liberal San Fran if a white guy is telling a black girl that "you can't wear that, that's a white people thing"

Nope. The video goes viral and millennial shitheads from across the country show up to protest and call for his imprisonment. Obama probably makes a statement about it, and the guys life is ruined

how do you figure? Didn't look fake to me at all, especially when she grabbed him as he was going up the stairs and she realized she was being filmed

youtube took me to the next video which was a black dude breaking down the video. It was kinda dumb, but he was on the white guy's side. basically said if you wanna be an advocate for black people, do something better with your time than pestering some kid about his hair style.

if it were me, and she grabbed me as I was walking up the stairs, she would've definitely at least got shoved hard as frick into the wall or something. It almost felt like she was passively trying to fight him until she caught a glimpse of the guy filming.

A white kid with dreads deserves to get his arse kicked. Unless his name is Drexyl.
