And obama was 100% right.

The notion of a "self-made man" is largely rare, laughable and impossible. If a man can't recognize and acknowledge all the people that have been instrumental in his achievements, then that is a man with no foresight and no appreciation for how the world works.

That's not to discredit anyone's hard work and perseverance, intelligent, diligence, and innovative ideas, but we all get some sort of help/luck/good fortune along the way. You can also create your own good luck and fortune with a certain doggedness and determination. But that's not necessarily always guaranteed

That's what I loved about obama; he seemed to have a sense of perspective and humility that's quite frankly a lost art.

I mean, our current president is largely where he is because he got a nice fat handout from his daddy. He's the furthest thing from self made. Which makes it hilarious why po' folk would hedge their bets on a guy they have nothing in common with because 50s populism and xenophobic beliefs.

Those po' folks have more in common with Obama

Also, trumps kids haven't earn a damn thing in their lives. That doesn't mean that he or his kids shouldn't be credited for he empire he built/they maintain but it's not like he/they made billions from dirt.

He made billions from millions. And I'm not sure if the OT or these parts read, but many studies highlight how it's a lot easier to become rich if you already have a rich parent.

Success breeds success.

I wonder how much people paid for these "studies".

No shite having a rich parent helps you become rich

Do these studies also say its impossible to become rich if you don't have a rich parent?

No but it's exponentially harder; more things have to shake right for them, and their margins of error are exponentially smaller. To be quite frank, that's asking a lot of people without the cushion/space to make a mistake. It's a tall task, and I guess you gotta do it if you want to break the cycle, but I would beckon that it's a lot harder than just being fortune enough to be born to the right family/be born with some advantage.

if fact, you're more likely to end up like your parents than anything else. Just like poverty is a cycle, success is one. Harder to break the poverty cycle.

That's why true and real "rag to riches" stories are extraordinary and rare. That's why the whole "pull your self up by your bootstraps" mantra is trash, especially since some of these folks don't have boots in the first place.

Attend free public schools > study > get a scholarship to college/take out a reasonable student loan/work during day to pay for school and attend night school/join military for GI Bill > choose a major that will lead to job opportunities > graduate > begin career > pay off loans or enjoy disposable income

There, that wasn't hard. Now I will await your explanation of how the above path is impossible, despite thousands of people doing it every year.

Better than our current guy that believes he's "self made" --- dude doesn't even the humility to take fondly of his parents. That tells you ALOT about a man.

When in fact he comes from a family of cons that built their earlier fortunes from generous democratic handouts.

Both of them were well taken care of. Men of privilege. Neither one of them should be considered a self made man. But keep working that angle.

Easier said that done homie. I'm sure everyone has the same life and the same work/life situations.

Does this person have kids? Do they have TJ take care of sick family members? Are they the only breadwinner.

You give me a "blueprint" and I'll give you socioeconomic factors that REAL people deal with every day that make your so "simple
And easy path" harder than it seems

I never said obama wasn't one.

At least he has the foresight and humility to fondly speak about his family that reared him right.

One guy thinks he did it all on his own.

You have to be trolling. You have to be

Obama is as arrogant as the day is long. I have read both of his autobiographies and he is long on being aggrieved and very short on humility. He is petulant and thin skinned. He has all of the worst characteristics you see in Donald J Trump. They are literally cut from the same cloth. Neither one of them are particularly strong or admirable leaders.

One group in our country, largely benefited from
The GI bill in the 1940s-1950s. These generous handouts, helped make them "great" during our "greatest" era. These average folks took these generous handouts and were able to create generational wealth that they still profit from today.

Other groups were barred from this particular handout yet are expected to soar high and above the disenfranchisement (sp?)
