re: Witnessing a Domestic Disturbance Between a Man and Woman

I was talking with a justice of the peace. I think JOP responsibilities differ from parish to parish, but in my parish they have to deal with domestic disputes. He told me that it is unbelieveable the shite he has to deal with.. On any give night, someone is knocking on his door at 2AM-3AM in the morning. In most cases its a girl whose boyfriend beat the shite out of her.. In some cases, the boyfriend would be the shite out of the girlfriend's child.. But he would get everything ready because she is wanting to press charges and at the last minute they boyfriend talks them out of it.. He said it is a sad situation because there is absolutely nothing he can do if the woman doesn't want to press charges and that one of the first times he had to deal with that type of situation, he pulled the girl aside to tell her she didn't have to live like that, she started crying, the boyfriend started yelling at him and he told the boyfriend he was just worried about the girl.. The girl started yelling at him that she didn't need anyone to worry about her and that he needed to mind his business, etc. The bf threatened to beat the shite out of him.. Evidently the worst thing you can do is get involved.
