They started back up about a week and half after the explosion.

ALL CLEAR.. well this was a boring thread..

quote:

Activity is resuming at Williams Olefins LLC’s facility in Geismar, La., following the company’s evacuation of personnel this morning in response to a non-specific security threat.

The company and contractors began evacuating approximately 1,700 personnel from the facility at approximately 8:30 a.m. Plant safety personnel conducted a thorough sweep of the grounds and at 10:45 a.m. determined the facility clear for workers to return and activity to resume.

The company worked in coordination with law-enforcement personnel from Ascension and Iberville parishes, as well as the St. Gabriel police and fire departments. Plant personnel also notified the state police.

Current activity at the Williams Olefins facility in Geismar consists primarily of construction work to expand plant capacity and repair a section of the plant damaged in an operation-related explosion on June 13, injuring over 75 people and killing one.

It wasnt a week and a half, it was a few weeks. But guys were working back in the plants shortly after. The plant itself is shut down as far not producing any product, but there are still over 1000 people working in there just on the day shift trying to get things back up and running. And yes, today was nothing more than a guy writing a threat on a porta-can wall. But you always have to take proper precaution.
