I have a shitton of change and no coin stars around me. Will the bank give me cash if I pre-sort it all for them?

The one time I went to the bank instead of coinstar they took it out of the rolls I put it in. So sorting it might be wasting your time.

i was actually wondering this the other day. I have about $500 in change in a bucket i need to cash in. I'm not wrapping all that shite but I also refuse to pay .08 on the dollar to cash it in at coinstar, let alone drag the bucket in there.

They have a coin sorting macchine at most banks don't they?

Its got to be in rolls. If you come in like Kramer and throw a big bag of pennies on the counter, they'll turn you away.

Tried doing that with the bank one time and they told me they only accept it if it's sorted and in rolls... so may want to call them ahead of time. Some banks have the counter machines, some apparently don't. I ended up going to a CoinStar.

Coinstar. What a fascinating business model.

"Give me your money and I will give you less back."

I wish I would have thought of that idea.

Yeah, it's not in rolls. I don't have time for that shite.

depending on the bank they may send it out to get counted at their main bank center or run it in their coin counter if they have one. They are not going to just trust what number you counted.

Some will require that you put them in coil rolls, and then put your account number on each roll. (this is for making the exchange at your bank)

Oh I know that. But I figured it would be easier for them if I had it all separated.

Ignore all the douchbag responses...

Call the branch of your bank that you intend to go to in order to get accurate information. For example, the Chase branch on Hwy 22 in Mandeville doesn't have a coin counting machine. I drop off a ziplock full of mixed coin and they ship it to be counted. They credit my account in about a week.

If you're not a customer of a particular bank, they probably aren't going to be interested in helping you.

My bank has a coin star type machine that spits out a receipt at the end that you can exchange for "real money."

My little one loves it.

Call your bank. Usually they have a branch they can send you to for that kind of stuff.

I brought $300 in rolled quarters to capital one a couple months back. They made me unwrap it so they can put in their coin counter. Then they charged me $5 for counting it.
