Wife and I are trying to get pregnant. Should we be worried about zika virus?

Going to excellence playa mujeres / Isla Mujeres in July. I can't find any recent articles about the virus in the Cancun area.

We have a little concern since we just did IUI. Should we cancel trip or just bring some repellent?

That's funny because your wife and I are trying to get pregnant too.

Your wife will have the higher odds to get pregnant first. But do what you do

I wouldn't go outside in the evening when I was pregnant in nola last summer even though there were no incidents of Zika from mosquitos found in New Orleans.

It wasn't worth the risk to me. It's a choice only you and your wife can make. Some people claim Zika is caused by pesticides and not mosquitoes but do you want to risk your kid's life on that? It's a rough call.

I was in Cuba for a while and had the same concerns. When I actually dug into the science behind microcephaly and the purported zika connection, I became less concerned. I am firmly convinced it was largely blown way out of proportion by the media and those with political motivations.

I would point to the thousands of babies born perfectly fine throughout the central America every day and tell you that your odds are in the astronomical range.

Good luck convincing your wife though, you read some of the stuff about it and it scares the holy hell out of you.

We were in the same situation last year. Decided it wasn't worth it for our family.

If y'all go, your wife should lather herself in deep woods cutter all day, every day.

You have to enter her vagina. We know you like it in the arse, but it doesn't work like that for women getting pregnant

You should be worried about whether or not the IUI worked first.

The wife is 16 weeks pregnant and I had a friends wedding in Mexico last week. She didn't go due to doctors orders. Not worth the risk.

I would be concerned. Consult her physician. I would go so fas as to make a call to the CDC too.

Interesting. Every time I apply a repel land I wonder how much of it is absorbed thru the skin.

Don't go if you are concerned. End of story.

Yes. Wife's gyno and my urologist have both said it's not worth the risk because still very little is known. I've had to cancel trips this summer already to Cabo and Miami due to doctor's suggestions. We are actively trying also.
