Why will St. George have to pay more for Sheriffs patrol just because they incorporate?

I live in Central and I have a feeling we're about to get screwed by this when EBRSO reacts to the St. George incorporation by putting their hands out for more money. SG organizers will likely point to the fact that Central hasn't had to pay extra, which means they'll pressure Central into adding a tax to expand their police force.
I understand that SG is legally required to have a police chief, but the SG incorporation will not cause less money to flow into EBRSO's budget. From EBRSO's perspective, why will EBRSO be negatively impacted? Will there suddenly be more crime or demand for officers in SG?
If the argument is that the city of BR subsidizes EBRSO patrol then fine, let SG have their own police force BUT reduce the amount of money that goes to EBRSO by the same amount.
SG can tax themselves to death if they wan't but my concern is that cost is going to go up in Central when we don't really need more police presence.

Better do something. You are going to live next to a slum of a city. Good luck with all of that. Really the dumbest thing ever.

Anything written by someone against St George is bullshite. Ignore the garbage.

Are you joking? Ebrso is paid by parish taxes.... St isn't being added to the parish.

It is funny to watch the people who still want to seem concerned that this will cost more.
Y'all are trying to get away from the inner city troubles. *wink* *wink*
You can't put a price on that.

I think Central did pay more for extra patrol cars that were worked by off-duty EBRSO, but the on-duty units took all the calls.

Man, the anit-SG people are pulling out all the guns.
Bringing in all the major business owners, some from SG, to try and crap all over the SG plan.
And then you have the moronic North BR peeps who try to make it about race, since Gardere??? didn't get to be part this time(they did not sign the petition), and when told of why, they still can't figure it out, always about race. LOL

To keep the NBR takers at bay.

If they did, it was taken out of the general fund because I don't recall paying any extra taxes for police patrol. I think the Central police "force" are volunteers. I like that Central has resisted the urge to try and fund a real police force through taxes and speed traps. I think that shows a good bit of restraint.
I do think it's a lot of FUD drummed up by the opposition which is sad because there's plenty of meat for them to chew on.
As a Central resident I'm thinking maybe we should be against SG so that people still want to move here.

You are obviously a troll or you don’t follow the SG “story”. You can’t vote on SG.

In Lakeview (NOLA), residents are taxed for extra patrols, the Lakeview Crime Prevention District. It was discovered that NOPD was exploiting this, just using the LCPD to patrol Lakeview and sending the 3rd district units (the regular patrols they are already entitled to as taxpayers) to other parts of the district. In other words, Lakeview paid for the mere illusion of extra patrols while in reality the rest of the district benefited through redistribution of the regularly assigned units.

Just to bring some of ya'll up to speed...
Everyone in the parish pays property tax to the sheriff's office. Everyone in the parish receives the following in return:
- a parish prison
- 19th JDC service
The sheriff's office also - on paper - provides police protection to the entire parish. In reality, it has about 1/3 of the funding and manpower necessary to do that on its own, so instead its resources are concentrated in unicorprated areas and the cities fund their own departments for police protection. State law requires cities to have a police department so this setup keeps the system running.
So with that out of the way, eventually St George will pay more for police, either by growing its own city department or paying more to the sheriff's office. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an absolute fool.
Central gets away with being subsidized by the incorporated parts of the parish because it's tiny, but even tiny Central has been under pressure to carry more of the burden and has grown its own city department.
For St George it will become a point of contention with the other incorporated cities because of its size. If Sid were to allow BR, Zachary, and Baker property taxes to subsidize police protection for St George it would cost him the election next go-around IMO.
ETA: If St George passes. A month ago I would've bet money that it was a sure thing. Given some of these recent governor polls showing JBE possibly winning outright on the 12th, I don't know. Obviously the governor's race and the St George vote aren't the same thing but I think high turnout favors the vote against it.

Fine. More control over our tax dollars and our own police force? Sign me up

Maybe so.
I think Central does have paid officers now or maybe just the chief?

So you want to add an additional tax so you can have more control? You know the EBRSO tax you already pay isn't going to be reduced, right?
When you say more control, what does that mean to you? How will you influence how the tax dollars are spent and what things would you like to change about how EBRSO currently does it?
