Or people just lazy and don't have Christmas spirit like they did back in the good old days like the 90's. Growing up one of my favorite things to do was riding around with family looking at Christmas lights. Many nice neighborhoods around Lafayette would have Santa Claus outside even handing out candy. People are so lazy now and don't even put up lights. It should be a responsibility if you live in home. #MCGA

Personally, I don't care about a house that has lights on it. The internet is far more interesting.

Home ownership is down. A lot of people are barely scraping by since wages have stagnated over 2 decades.

Rich neighborhoods have them stil in full force
(You can see them if the gates aren't locked)

What is there to hate about Christmas lights?????? It's not even close to what it was back in the 70's and 80's.... but I believe people just don't care about it as much as back then.... AND yes . .This generation is lazy when it comes to something they don't have to do.

Renters don't hang up christmas lights on the outside of homes and apartments they don't own. It's just that simple.

You must be too young to remember the energy conservation scares of the 70's and 80's.

I notice way more Christmas lights (and holiday decorations in general) in my old neighborhood these days than I did in years past. Maybe you live in a sucky neighborhood.

The last apartment complex I lived in had decorating contests. Most people didn't but some went all out.

If it is done well it can be really pretty and all, and of course if it isn't done well it just looks bad. But it's a lot of work to basically do this:

... and then take it down a couple of weeks later.

agree.

I notice it every year.

Less and less houses participating in the Christmas Tradition of lights.

Used to love riding around looking at lights.

i dont think it's being 'lazy' at all. i think 75% of christmas lights are basically tacky, and youngsters, for the most part, arent into tacky shite.

i have some lights on my house but it's minimal and tasteful.

Hanging lights helps propagate the oppressive white male patriarchal tradition that is christmas.
