Does anybody know why Shreveport's water tastes so bad these days? Is this a temporary problem? I have family on the Bossier side of the river and they won't even dine out in Shreveport any more.

For some reason, I just poured myself a giant party mug of tap water instead of filtered from the refrigerator. While my undiagnosed oppositional defiant disorder makes me want to tell you to go frick yourself very badly right now, I'm going to have to agree. It's going to be difficult to get all this metallic water down. I suspect we may be piping it in from Flint.

You want to taste terrible water?

Sweeney Texas. Water tasted gray. You'd feel dirtier after taking a shower. It was awful. Terrible. Worst water I've ever tasted.

Pipes in Shreveport are kaput, but I'd rather drink water out of Cross Lake than the Red River.

They are doing maintenance on the water system right now, so Cl levels are fluctuationg, affecting the taste.

Normally shreveport has pretty good water

I am pleased to see this thread. I drove to Shreveport this morning to eat at one of my favorite restaurants. I nearly gagged taking the first sip of the glass of water. I had asked for unsweet tea, which also tasted terrible because of the water. The water even affected the flavor of the Diet Coke I ordered to replace the tea.

I had never noticed the water tasting so foul, before. I guess the rest of the customers had become used to its flavor. But, you are correct, the water tastes very unpleasant.

I do hope it's temporary.

That is good news, but the water I drank, today, really had kind of a "sewer" flavor.

You guys should drive to Mamou. Water is black, and tastes like crap. Bath water looks like a pig soaked in it.

Shreveport's water facilities are woefully inadequate, from the storm water facilities to the wastewater facilities to the water facilities themselves. As I understand it, the city was federally mandated to upgrade its system and the previous mayor simply ignored that mandate for something like 8 years.

Simple, they get their water from Cross Lake where all the sewer overflows go.

It took Bossier City a while, but their water is quality now. Shreveport, not so much, and it has a lot to do with it being pulled from Cross Lake.
