Why is Mike Tyson viewed favorably?

He was convicted(not accused) of raping a minor. He bit the ear off of another boxer, like an animal. Also, has threatened and said horrific things about children etc. But yet he is now in movies and paraded around like a god. Also Joe Rogan has him on all the time and praised him for being so “intelligent”, guaranteed his IQ is 85 or lower. Why does he get such a pass?

Iron Mike was one hell of a boxer. And if you don’t treat him favorably he’ll kill you and eat your children.

1. He got a nice role in the Hangover
2. He apparently has a god PR rep
3. He's stayed out of trouble - as far as I know
4. People that grew up watching him in his heyday have fond memories

Was she a minor? Thought she was 18. In any case she accompanied him back to his hotel room. I guess that softens the accusations (conviction). He's also got a lot of charisma and seems like a shraightshooter who rehabilitated his image. People love that.

He lived an unbelievably fricked up life growing up. That’s not excusing what he did but I think people like to see how he turned it around from him just completely going off the deep end. Only thing I can think of

He definitely isn't smart.
I've long since felt this way about him, but I can give him that he's entertaining when on tv and such. I guess that's all you need to be. Entertaining, able to bring the overlords a ROI for continuing to parade your circus act about...

once he got off the steroids, and became somewhat normal, and people found him likeable

It’s an interesting point for sure. Kobe and Tyson are honored despite the rape claims, payoffs, convictions. Brees on the other hand…CANCELLED!
