You're gonna die anyway so frick it, feels good, why not

My grandmother died of lung cancer and never smoked in her life. My other grandmother smoked for fifty five years and is still kicking with no cancer in her.

All these other examples of minor vices are hardly the complete social outcast that smoking has become.

2 person sample size isn't really representative. Sorry about your grandmother though.

The deal with smoking is, it raises your risk of lung cancer, and you're more likely to get a bad lung cancer than a nonsmoker. But the percentage of smokers who get lung cancer still isn't extravagantly high or anything.

But, if you smoke your whole life and make it into old age without the detrimental cardiovascular effects killing you first, the vast majority of lifetime smokers end up with COPD. Which sucks.

I'd imagine it is pretty addictive to some. I've smoked a few cigarettes, but never felt anything good from them. Lucky me I suppose.

FWIW I know guys smoking 1-3 cigs per day and they're just fine. It's the pack a day plus smokers that are really at risk.

If you can keep it at 1-3 a day long term it will help your health long term but for 99% of smokers that isn't happening.
