I'll take a stab at this.

I believe it's because most television shows are filmed in California, where "the" is common before a road name.

Also, notice how state vehicle regulation agencies are called "DMVs"? That's a California thing.

Texas even officially renamed its division as the "Department of Motor Vehicles" (DMV).

The cultural rot emanating from Hollywood has changed not only our customs, but our terminology.

I am not a "clown". I do not call I-10, "the I-10". I am a New Orleans resident.

Never have really cared for people from New Orleans. And a majority of the posters from New Orleans I don't really like.
