Why do my wine glasses always smell like mildew?

It doesn't matter what the heck I do. I can soak them, scrub them, scour them. And after all that think they are ok. But after a few weeks in the cabinet, I grab one and put a glass of white wine only to be assaulted by mildew odor as it approaches my nose.

Are my glasses ruined? I thought glass didn't hold odors like ceramics?

Is the smell consistent with different brands of wine?

No, it's the glasses. If I go grab one from the cabinet right now the odor will be in the empty glass. But after I washed and dried them it wasn't there.

I didn't think glass was permeable

You have mildew in your cabinets. The odor gets trapped in your wine glasses more easily because of the shape.

No mildew in the wine glass cabinet and my house is fairly newly built. I also keep it a crisp 71-72 degrees with low humidity.

It's not any other glass but the wine glasses.

Look harder for the mildew in your cabinet. That's all it can be.

Try storing them upside down in a hanging rack outside the cabinet.
