My daughter had a 165lb Great Dane that would go nuts in T storms. She had to give it valiums before hand. Other then that, the dog was very lay back dog.

I always thought it had to do with their keen sense of sound. I think it hurts their ears, they perceive the vibrations as a direct threat and go a little crazy. I always thought this was pretty common knowledge but I might be wrong.

My shihtzu snored under my bed all night. He doesn't give a shite about storms.

My dad's dog (big mutt) hates engines and thunder. He runs outside barking and snapping and jumping in the air trying to get the thunder. He has also bitten weed eaters, law mowers and atvs bc of the noise.

Most high strung herding breeds are hyper sensitive to sounds. My sheltie is an outlier, she doesnt give a frick about thunder or fireworks.

I don't like thunder either. My dogs and I are united against that evil.
