Why are Muses shoes so coveted?

Yes this is a bitch thread. The Pelicans lost.
Why are Muses shoes so valued? This has to be the single most overrated thing in New Orleans. A high heel that is hand decorated and thrown off floats. Women nearly assault one another on the parade route to claim these things.

Without undermining the whole concept of Mardi Gras, let's just say the answer is scarcity.
Personally, I think the shoes are the few throws in all of Mardi Gras that deserve the hype. My cousin hand decorated 20 shoes, and they were masterpieces, to be frank. In her case, it's a parade themed piece of art that is being given out to a few people.

I know agree they are well done and I recognize a lot of work goes into them. But it's like people are handing out hundred dollar bills.

I've seen fights over simple strands before. In addition to my original response, I'll add that some people are just fricking crazy.

My friend has been hit by an old man with a cane over beads that cost less than 1 cent to produce.

If you catch one and give it to your girlfriend she'll give it up all night

I'll take your word on it ma'am.

Why do people freak out over Zulu coconuts?
Same reason. Scarcity.

The shite is stupid. I threw away my shoes and coconuts because they were junk sitting in my closet.
