Who is LaToya Cantrell and why is there so much animosity towards her

However. Many on the OT and on Political Talk seem to be her detractors. What did she do as a politician and community organizer that created a negative effect on New Orleans?
Personally, I don't think any particular politician can really save New Orleans by themselves. It would take a series of politicians doing small-scale reforms to make any progress. Race-baiting will not solve the problems that New Orleans has and redistricting will simply make the tax base leave.

She's a dime a dozen community agitator that knows very little about how to run a city and only makes a name for herself through racial issues. She'll blame all problems on whites and be anti-police. The only reason she's even a serious candidate is because she has the winning complexion for the city of New Orleans.
Actually.... I don't know anything about her but I took an educated guess and I'd be willing to bet that I'm correct.

Here's a perfect example of the character and priorities of LaToya Cantrell:
She Railed on Mitch for days about the stupidity of taking down the monuments. She went into arguments about how no one cares about the statues and about how mitch is an idiot and he can't just do whatever he wants as mayor.
She on went to talk about how to better use the money and why we should focus on more important things.
So she very clearly understands the issues and what needs to be addressed.
Then, less than two minutes later, she voted to authorize taking down the statues and later she stood with Mitch for pictures for her mayoral run.
She's a hypocritical lieing snake in the grass and she will do nothing to improve this city. Despite what she says, her voting record on city council speaks for itself.
I have no doubt she will be out lieing to church's and the citizens of this city about her aspirations in office. But she has one aspiration and it is that office. It's not fixing the city and it's not helping the citizens it's furthering her own political career. And I will do my best to remind everyone of that every chance I get.

I don't agree with Cantrell on a lot of things. But, she was spot on with what she says about Mitch.
