I was at a party in Lafayette today and talked to a few people and heard stories of the layoffs and families affected by them. Sounds like hard times. When you work in that industry do you save for these times?
I ask because I'm in real estate and I know it can go south at any point so I always try to put aside money for times like that.

Since gas is $1.50 where I live, instead of having to put $10 in my tank every 3 or 4 days, I only have to put $5 in now.

I don't have to ask for lube everytime the gas pump rapes me anymore now. Life's great.

Who stops and puts three gallons of gas in a car?

Do you pay for it with nickles and dimes?

We have had lay offs. I'm safe for the time being. Not sure if this lasts to the summer though.

I'm not scheduling any vacations or house renovations for 2016 just in case.

I don't work for O&G directly. I'm a consultant.

Everyone in a town like Lafayette will be affected by it if it lasts a lot longer.

Work profits have gone way up.

Sucks because it is only temporary before the local economy gotta too shirt as a result. I'll make some money on the process, but I would rather have a nice local economy than be the big fish in a sewer pond.

Someone who is trying to save money. It beats filling up for $23.

Because of low gas prices, we have been running production 6 days a week for the past year and have scheduled production Sundays in the upcoming year. Working in Maintenance, it gives zero time to actually fix things. Just put a band aid on it and run.

Apparently you have never seen a brother put gas in a Chevrolet Caprice. 5 bucks is the max no matter what the price is.
