To OP, just go to Academy and pick out a pre-broken $40 dollar glove.
This..No need to break the bank on a pitch and catch mitt. Just find one on sale that suits you..

Rawlings, Mizuno, and Wilson all make top of the line gloves. You can't go wrong with any one of these.

Wilson A2K, Rawlings HOH, Wilson A2000 and Rawlings Pro Preferred are the best quality leather. Way, way better than anything else that’s going to be mentioned here (Mizuno Pro-line Japan made gloves also belong with aforementioned - average person is going to have a hard time getting one of those). Plenty of high quality and decent quality gloves otherwise, but those stand at the top.
Patterns are like shoes, some glove makers have patterns that fit some players better. I personally like Wilson’s IF patterns and 1B mitts and Rawlings OF patterns.
Ask people who work on or restore gloves (was a hobby of mine for a number of years) and you aren’t going to hear a lot of positives on Nokona other than leather is soft and the look nice when they are new.

There are about 10 pros in all of MLB who wear Nokona. Seriously.
Which tells me Nacona doesn't pay players to use their gloves.

Back in the day I used a glove from Kmart in high school and my first two years of college till my daddy got a job

Wonder why they're not rampant in MiLB? Surely most of those guys aren't sponsored.

Marucci Honor the Game series is legit
Do you really need a $300 glove though for what you’re doing?

I've had a variety of gloves over the years. The a2000 is a solid glove. Wasn't a fan of their catchers mitts, though. For catching, which is what I mostly did, a Rawlings Pro Preferred was as good as it got, imo. Not even a close second. But dropping $350 or so at the start of every season had to have been brutal for my parents to stomach.
I played competitive baseball growing up, played at a good high school, and in college- graduated high school in 07 (so somewhat recent but not recent). I tell you all of that to say, I didn't know one person that liked Nokona or played with a Nokona. They were heavy and baggy once they were broken in. I get they are made in the USA, but I didn't know anyone that was a fan once they actually started using it.

I'm genuinely shocked Nokona is so popular in this thread. No one typically wore them at the high school or collegiate level. There are much better gloves out there.
I had a Rawlings Pro Preferred in high school, then upgraded to a Rawlings Primo in college. Still have that glove and love it to this day. I haven't seen a Nokona on a competitive baseball player since pre-2000.
