We have entered a new stage in American parenting, the special little snowflake raising the even more special little snowflake. These are the people who write things like "I am a warrior" while sipping the morning chai. They are the self-absorbed, the self-congratulatory, the not-yet-humbled. It's all very embarrassing for family and friends.

I will cut her some slack on the whole "black son" that didn't work out thing. Compassion for children is a mark in her favor. What does makes me uncomfortable, is this idea that SJW-types have that there is somehow virtue in skin color and/or the alleged victim status that one has if one happens to be black. As if she is so wonderfully unique and virtuous because she adopted a black child.

Last night I went for a two hour walk with my 13 year old daughter (will provide pics in five years) and we discussed racial identity. Her mother is Vietnamese and I'm white. We talked about how BLM Identity politics is a betrayal of MLK's admonition to judge EACH human being by the content of their character. Her school ( public magnet) has devolved into a social media fed avalanche of Identity politics. I explained to her that skin color is value-neutral. It neither indicates virtue or lack of virtue. Her black BFF believes she is a special little snowflake victim because of slavery, and gets mad when my daughter brings up the fact that her mother survived a war, a Communist takeover of their village, a terrifying escape on the high seas to a refugee camp, where she lived in a tent for almost two years. She arrived in Baton Rouge with a bag of clothes at age nine, unable to speak a single word of English.

Our daughter doesn't see Mom as a victim. She sees Mom as a bad-arse. An arse-kicker. A lover of Liberty and freedom. She knows her Mom never went on line to morally-preen about her many virtues and her desire to "make the world better"-she just humbly made the world better. One Mrs. Pimp could run 20 circles around this special little snowflake before snowflake made her first Facebook post of the morning.

People like this make it MUCH harder for people like me to raise our interracial children to be Americans who will preserve individual liberty over SJW nonsense. Overcoming the lunacy of SJW social media nonsense is one of the primary domestic challenges of our era. Snowflakes like this are insufferable and tend to raise even more insufferable children.
