While we worry about crime, traffic, flooding and trash here in EBR

The Jail
Black leaders are moving to change the name of EBR Prison saying the name is wrong.
The C-P Council deferred the change after learning it would cost over 300K
The proponents maintain it sends the wrong message.
I suggest they kill two birds with one stone and let the mayor’s crack committee on hiring the chief handle this too.

Broome needs to appoint a diverse and equitable person for the SW&B chairman of BR.

I support the name change to the Captain Jimmy Sandridge Correctional Institution.
Sandridge served 34 years with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Department, all in the Central Booking area of the prison before retiring earlier this year.
No one, and I mean no one, has shoveled more shite and dealt with more gangsters in the undesirable and unglamorous world of corrections. He did it with pride, passion, and professionalism and never complained.
He was an invaluable resource for cops in East Baton Rouge Parish for over 3 decades.
Sandridge served 34 years with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Department, all in the Central Booking area of the prison before retiring earlier this year.
No one, and I mean no one, has shoveled more shite and dealt with more gangsters in the undesirable and unglamorous world of corrections. He did it with pride, passion, and professionalism and never complained.
He was an invaluable resource for cops in East Baton Rouge Parish for over 3 decades.
