Cub Cadet over both of those - especially the faux John Deere. Those big box store models are nothing like the real thing.

John Deere D110 here and have just under an acre to cut. Have had no problems in over 2 years and Sunshine Equipment has taken good care of me.

Actually this is not true. The JD sold at Lowe's is the exact same residential mower sold at the dealerships. In fact, they are serviced at a dealership first and then delivered to Lowe's.

Not sure about getting parts for the HV.

Parts are easy to get. I used to have a Husky for about 12 years and have never had difficulty getting parts.

So true. Dealerships are getting stuck with servicing them but don 't get the sale.

They still make money from the repairs, but the big difference is what is covered by the manufacturers warranty.

The John Deere warranty will not cover some non John Deer parts on the Home Depot/Lowes models. So, depending on what goes wrong, you could be stuck paying repairs 4 months after the purchase even because of a manufacturers defect.

I have a JD exactly like the one you linked...had it for over 10 years and not had a single bit of trouble out of it...when it dies, I buy another just like it...

fwiw, I don't think you can expect the "L" series mowers (or any other modern mower) to last 20 years like your last one, though....

Agreed. I have had both the consumer and professional series JD. In both cases the deck rotted out in 10 years. The engine still ran great in both cases.

Been a few years since I have bought one but at the time the biggest bang for the buck was the Cub Cadet IMO. Nothing but good luck with mine, had it 4 years or so.

#1 I worked for a company promoting the JD residential line before I went into a partnership owning 4 service centers.
I find you can do better with Husqvarna or cub cadet.
Paying for the green paint.

#2 I worked for MTD which makes cub cadet and troy-Bilt, yard machine, white, and some craftsman before Doing 3rd party rep residential JD lines.

I ended up repairing them all which all are very similar when you are talking under $1,599 to $1,899 ball park. Not much difference in parts at this price point.

All should come out of the crate ready to go.
JD talks about pdi at store level but all they do is drive it off a crate and check tire pressure! deck level (most should be good), and if engine cranks. Yes you pay for this.
The if it sits outside a homecenter you still have water in fuel tank if it rains and dead battery if it sits too long.

JD paying for name
All parts come from similar distributors that MTD and Husqvarna use.

Cub cadet nice mower for money but have to be in area with good service center.
Better cut 33 degree and less clumping and better turn radius.
Get better bang for your buck than both.

Husqvarna nice mower slightly less than JD not much quality difference.
Service is like cub cadet got have good dealer network in your area.
I would put Husqvarna up against a cub cadet than Deere due to paying marketing cost for big green Deere.

Flip a coin between cub cadet and Husqvarna both are decent and you are not paying for green paint.

I am leaning to Husqvarna. Any opinion on a good dealer in either Kenner/Metaire or Baton Rouge area?

Vince owner of port Vincent farm and supply.
Cross bridge at port Vincent & ascension parish and go south he right there on the right.
I sent him a lot of business over the years and he growing dealer/repair center.
He wants residential business and got good reputation.

Service side I never heard a legit bad thing about his service.
He is one of the better shops in the area.

Yeah nothing runs like them when the Briggs valves come out of adjustment and customer is pissed that Briggs and Deere will not cover adjusting the valves.

maybe it's the overpriced touch up paint when you replace a spindle and paint chips off the deck. Boy can that John Deere paint run all over the deck.

How much acreage are you cutting per ride? For me, I have enough that I went entry level commercial grade (ie not Lowes or Home Depot bought).

JD X300 42" cut

I was between the JD and Kubota. The JD Store gave me a better cash price deal.
