Ain't none of y'all fools know about Hawks.

I know about Hawks. Hanks is better.

$20.00 for all you can eat at the crawfish king cook-off. Downtown by live after five. It's a great cause raising money for junior achievement and big buddy of Baton Rouge.

Crawdaddys and Tonys are running around $2.00/lb live

OK let me get this straight, you won't eat crawfish that goes for a dollar a pound because they are trashy. I have never been concerned about a crawfishes reputation but to each his own.

Hit up Jameis on twittergram or Facebutt. I hear he's got the hook up on dem mudbugs.
Posted on 5/2/14 at 6:26 pm to bencoleman
I would be skeptical at $1.00 or under a pound right now
Posted on 5/2/14 at 6:27 pm to Jones
yep. $1 live is what we're getting wholesale. mark that up at least $0.30 for anything decent
Posted on 5/2/14 at 6:29 pm to bencoleman
I mean they're most likely small and/or dead
Posted on 5/2/14 at 6:31 pm to Jones
You ever thought of just looking at them and then passing judgement.
Posted on 5/2/14 at 6:38 pm to bencoleman
i wouldnt bother. id rather buy them from a trusted source
Posted on 5/2/14 at 6:43 pm to Jones
I don't blame you. Somebody could have caught them out of a ditch or something.

In BR, I don't know about cheapest, but got some boiled from LA Broilers on O'neal yesterday for 3.09, so I guess live they're close to $2..

Super Select, Jim. We talking 8 to 10 crawfish to the lb.
Must be a SW Louisiana thing, like dumping the seasoning on top of the crawfish. I never heard of "grading" crawfish until I lived in Houston. All the years before that I lived in NOLA, and all the time since I moved back to NOLA, I have never seen a single NOLA live crawfish retailer refer to crawfish as "select" or anything else. You just get what they caught.
Just remember you are buying them by the pound, which includes the whole body. Yes, the bigger ones have bigger tails, but bigger everything else. Yes, you have to peel fewer of them to get a certain quality of tail meat, but, you are probably not getting any more or less tail meat per pound of crawfish.
