SoBe (south beach) is cool but I wouldn't want to stay there unless my plan was to party every night. If you do go out, club LIV is the premier Miami night club, but cover when I went on a friday was $60.

Cover is $60-$100 for guys on a Fri/Sat night. It is a cool vegas style club but way overhyped.

Three suggestions for a place to stay if money is not an issue (Ft Lauderdale is too far from the U. You could spend 2.5 hours in traffic trying to get 30 miles from Ft Lauderdale to the U on a Friday afternoon.

1 & 2: Lowes or Delano on Collins. North end of SOBE on about 17th street. Two best hotels in SOBE IMO.

3. JW Marriott in Brickell. This puts you a short 5 miles from the U or less and Brickell is the nicest area in Miami. You can walk to Mary Brickell village and find plenty of entertainment and a good crowd of people on any weekend. There is a Blue Martini that is a very nice bar and busy Fri and Sat. There is a sportsbar on the second level of Mary Brickell Village next to Blue Martini for the games on Sat. Perricones is an awesome place to eat with the best brunch in Miami on Sat/Sun. Fado's Irish Pub will be busy Fri/Sat as well. Tons of other resturants and bars there also. Bar/lounge on the second floor of the JW is legit. Everything is easy walking distance from the JW as well.

That looks great right now.

The good thing about Miami is there are so many places to choose from.

Another good place to eat is Yardbird.

I will be flying out of Miami's airport
go fishing in any of the lakes surrounding Miami airport. Crazy amounts of peacock bass in all of those lakes.

If you enjoy jogging you have to go for a Raven Run on South Beach.
