Where to go camping and canoeing/kayaking near Nashville, TN

Will be visiting Nashville in July. I'm willing to drive an hour or so to get there. We've hiked Burgess Falls and would like to camp there, but it doesn't look like they have campsites in the park.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

Buffalo River in Waynesboro, TN about 90 miles southwest of Nashville. 2 or 3 canoe/kayak rental places w campgrounds. Decent cliff for jumping if your into that. Can be crowded and rowdy on holiday weekends.

Thanks, this looks like fun. Are you familiar with either of these?

You are right in that sweet spot for all 3 falls and camping. Sigh....just another reason I want to get to Tennessee.

Where's a good place to camp around there that would be accessible to Burgess?

Fall Creek Falls probably has the best camping area of the waterfalls in the Nashville area. And for kayaking/canoeing try either the Caney, which isn't too far from Fall Creek, or Narrows of the Harpeth which is on the west side of Nashville.

I have seent a snake or two on the Buffalo over the years. They are pretty uncommon though. You won't be reenacting the scene from Lonesome Dove or anything.

Got to be careful about Buffalo River. They've got cops & Game Wardens lurking in the woods. One weekend I saw a guy get busted for fishing with no license & another guy get busted for sinking a beer can.

Man, I'll have to hit it up over there, that looks fantastic.

Canoeing takes place on water. Snakes like water, so any place is going to be snakey.

I have camped a Crazy Horse a few times. Had a good time. Can't ever tell about the crowd. Sometimes it's families and church groups. The next weekend it's folks from deliverance and girls with teeth like pearls (very rare)
