What I'm saying is that You never know. So treat it just like a loaded gun.

You can preach on high about breeding and yadda yadda yadda, No Pitbull is ever violent....until it is.

The biggest problem is that most owners don't know anything about their dog's bloodline.

All fricking pit bulls should be euthanized and therefore become extinct. This should be a law. Illegal to own a pit bull. Simple as that.

So that these same people can then own Rots or Dobermans and have the same thing happen?

Why can't we just ban those fricking things and be done with it. The statistics speak for themselves.

LINK

quote:
42 U.S. dog bite-related fatalities occurred in 2014. Despite being regulated in Military Housing areas and over 700 U.S. cities, pit bulls contributed to 64% (27) of these deaths. Pit bulls make up about 6% of the total U.S. dog population.2

6% of the dog population
64% of fatalities

Why can't we ban blacks then? They have same kind of statistics.

Dude, I've posted all sorts of stats, figures, and verified accounts and the Pit lovers just stick their head back in the sand and dismiss it all as lies and propaganda. You can't reason with them.

The pit bull thing is kind of weird to me, especially when we are almost never provided with proof of breed. I'll try and get my wife to chime in on the subject as she's a Veterinarian. She has an interesting perspective that I will try to sum up as best as I can. She use to work for a somewhat large cities animal control. She said nearly all calls about vicious dogs and dogs brought in for Quarantine after biting someone, were labeled as pit bull or pit bull type dogs. She says this was almost never factual, in fact very few verified pit bulls every came into her exam room and that the ones that did find their way into her care were almost always subjects of abuse. Anything with a stocky build or a square head was immediately called a pit bull. She's got a funny story of a bunch of brindle curs being picked up after they escaped their kennels being called pit bulls.

In short, we are taking this guys word for a "pit bull" killing his kid. Could it be possible he's using the term to blame the dog rather than saying "I'm an idiot for leaving a 2 month old ALONE with an animal"

Oddly enough, this is not a picture of a pit bull.
