About the only thing they could ticket you for is inspection and seatbelt.

Disband and be individually forced to latch onto a different version of the tax-payers' teat which does not give them undue and unbridled authority over their intellectual superiors.

People will just program them to go really really fast to get better gas mileage. There goes gas tax revenue...

I think you are greatly underestimating their ability to come up with something else to ticket people for. Jaywalking fines would be $1,000.

maybe not but i just hear on the news almost every day about google or some other company forging forward with development. It got me to thinking about all these shady little town police departments that set up traps for drivers.

This is why we won't see it in our lifetime. They will figure out ways to make the economically unfeasible to sell, own, or operate. In addition to municipal revenue think of the insurance industry, body shop industry, and even auto industry that depends upon collisions as a reason people purchase a new vehicle.

Driving is enjoyable and I just can't see this taking off. Remember, we were ALL supposed to be driving electric cars by now. We have the technology but it just didn't take.... Nor will self-driving cars

It's a shame our civilization has reached a point where we have to prevent inventions and discoveries from becoming reality and available in order to prevent the collapse of parasitic bureacracies and blooduscking business interests who work together to ensure their mutual dominance over the rest of society.

Municipalities will fight to make these illegal, just like they fight Uber.

Gentlemen, It's always been like this. Just look back in the early years of electricity. The kerosene monopoly tried like hell to ban electricity in order to keep their grip on heating/lighting
