When scratching your right ear, do you use your right or left hand?

Today at Wal Mart, I saw a lady reach across the top of her head with her left hand to scratch her right ear. Her right hand was not occupied at the moment. It seemed like an inefficient way to scratch an itch. I was going to tell her so, but she didn't look like she would be receptive to the suggestion.
