I use these because I'm a poor college student. 
I'm very particular about it being 0.5 mm. I can settle for 0.7 mm in an emergency.
I did have an awesome pencil from Staedtler that I got when I went to their plant in Germany. I need to find that thing.

I use plastic Bic pens so I can chew on the ends. I chew thru one a day!

I prefer roller ball pens since I'm left-handed and using gel pens causes smear on my hand.
