I keep seeing and hearing about this all the time now.

Anyone actually try it? What results did you actually see?

DNK.

I do remember in the 1990s, popping popcorn in it would kill you (according to Science in the Public Interest).

Cooking, haven't tried it, when we went to Belize they put it on their skin to prevent no see ums from biting.

Started mixing coconut cream in with rice - would recommend.

Come to think of it, I use it in a lot of foods. I never really thought about it.

Healthier fat to cook with due to its omega ratio and stability when heated. (Vs olive oil which gets unstable at higher heat)

I haven't really noticed any changes to my skin. Maybe it has helped. It has helped me maintain a great physique, but I don't know how much it contributed to it. I just like it that it is odorless when you cook it (though I have never put it in the microwave; it probably does smell like bacon ). I use it because I don't really like the smell of vegetable/canola oil when I'm cooking, so I use coconut oil and olive oil whenever I can.

Funny how coconut oil comes and goes in terms of popularity. It was promoted as a critical medium chain triglyceride back in books from the 70s. Udo Erasmus I believe. Then it was promoted in bodybuilding circles in the early 90s.

Must be back on the upswing again.

I heard about it when I was getting back in shape (thanks, DrTyger), so that makes sense. I like it.

It's just a fad. Studies have been done to show its not healthier than other oils or really does anything different.

Gives a diff taste though

I use it for everything! I cook with it, give it to my dogs to help shedding, clean ears with it. The stuff is great but expensive.

I use the coconut cooking spray for eggs or sauteeing. There's no taste

It's just better for you. It's what my dietitian told me to use

Read the labels of those spray cans. I looked at them and none of them had anything in it, especially none of the healthy fats. Make sure you look.
